What can I say about this amazing book!
We meet Veronica Moon, Vee, who is a young aspiring photographer. Fed up being being treated unfairly and her boss always choosing the male photographer for the main photos in the newspaper she photographs for, she goes to the picket line at the Dagenham Ford women machinists strike to take some photographs for herself. There, she meets Leonie. Leonie is not a very likable character and is ahead of her time with regards to the feminist movement. She says how she feels, tells it how it is and will do pretty much anything for another sister... if it is in line with her agenda. From that point onward Vee and Leonie become best friends, and briefly live together however, Vee seems to gain more and more success but Leonie is still doing the same things she always has. Now, in 2018, Leonie is gone, Vee is not in good health and hasn't photographed in over 30 years. When she is approached by Erica, Leonie's niece, for permission to exhibit her photogrpahs, she cant refuse. This follows the three women and their lives and differing feminist views.
This book was very good, its not a fast read, but it is so interesting and extremely well written. You really feel like you get to know Vee and Leonie. I would have like to have known more about Erica however, I can see why we don't see as much of her as the other two.
It did take a while to get into, but it is such a worth while read!
