Enlightening
I didn't realise how amazing and eye-opening this book would really be even after reading the first look. But truly it was a genuinely great read. Feminism is central to the plot of this book, something I love and enjoyed about this novel, being a feminist myself. It was especially enlightening as to the protests and strikes which took place before I was born (the 1960s), a lot of which I wasn't aware of.
As for if I would recommend this book to a friend, I already have. Several, in fact! I've even lent my copy to some of my male friends to see if it will give them a new perspective about the world and how it works in the past. And how that has led to how we approach gender and the way we do things now.
