This is a great story set in the 1960's and starts off around the time of the strike by female workers at a Ford factory. This is a long time before I was born and a time that I didn't know much about so I was really surprised to learn about the struggles that women faced at this time. It is so thought provoking and made me feel how much I take my freedom for granted, like not being able to buy my own drink at a bar. I thought the characters were excellent. I loved Veronica and how she developed as a character and how she changed her life. I loved the strong and fierce Leonie although she wasn't as easy to like. This is a well written and thought out book and I especially liked the descriptions of the photographs and the paragraphs with the photo themes.
