I enjoyed this book more than I thought I was going to. I really loved the character of Cecily, so strong but so vulnerable as well and I one of the best aspects of the books was her story unfolding. It took me a while to warm to Kate and at times the story was a bit slow paced. It was a refreshing change to have a different kind of story from the standard boy meets girl and I liked that the message was that you can be complete or fulfilled without romantic love, and that just because you are turning 40 doesn't mean you shouldn't expect more. One thing that spoiled it a bit was introducing a new romantic interest at the end, I guess the point was he wasn't key to Kate's happiness but I felt it was a bit twee that she discovered how to be happy without a man but also met someone new straight away.
