A summer must-read
As an avid foodie and forty-something I’m not really surprised that I loved the first few chapters of this book. It’s not what I would usually choose so I was a little wary at the start but I was drawn in immediately, wanting to know what had gone wrong with poor Kate’s relationship. She’s a likeable character and of course Nick, the database engineer, is not! We only catch a fleeting glimpse of Cecily Finn in the prologue. She’s a sharp tongued ninety seven and a half year old who it seems has taken Kate under her wing and will put her to rights, I hope.
This book appears at first glance to be an easy read, but not too easy. The pace in these early chapters is fast and leaves you wanting more. I can see it being a huge summer hit, definitely one for the beach.
