A wonderful book about Kate, who is approaching her 40th birthday and Cecily who is 97 years old and waiting for death.
Kate's boyfriend, Nick, appears to be having commitment problems and wants to defer Kate's move to share his flat. At the same time, Kate is offered redundancy from the job she has done for the last 20 years writing alliterative slogans for food packaging. Kate befriends Cecily, a prickly and opinionated loner, when she offers to do a food demonstration at a local care home and their friendship gradually develops - fed by their joint love of food and a recipe book Food For Thought, written by Cecily.
This is a beautifully written book and the storyline is exquisite. Thankfully it doesn't turn into a book of recipes. Not too keen on the title of the book nor the cover but glad I had the chance to read this book which I probably wouldn't have been attracted to in a bookshop.
