An enchanting tale of inter generational friendship, as Kate Parker (40, temporarily single) meets Cecile Finn (97, sharp tongued and bored of life at Lauderdale House).

This would not be a book that I would usually pick or for myself, but I was intrigued by the notion of a friendship between women of different ages and from contrasting backgrounds. I am immensely glad that I took a chance and read outside my usual genres. The two central characters are portrayed in rich detail, and the relationship between them is described in all its glory: a friendship based on mutual attachment and the exchange of witty barbs. The issues faced by women at two vastly different stages are hugely relevant to C21st life and kept me engaged throughout.

An engaging and entertaining novel about how friendship and cookery can prove life-enhancing at any age. An ideal summer read.
