This is book is the most amazing and loving tribute anyone could pay to a grandma! And what better way to do it if not through recipes for comfort food? The whole idea is just brilliant!
Through the book, we meet Kate, an almost 40 year old woman, whose stuck on a job she doesn't really fancy, hooked on a man no one finds perfect but herself, a character who's given up and just settled for as little as life had to offer. Through Mrs Finn, a 97 year old widow, with no family, she discovers she relies only on herself to feel whole and on her friends to feel happy. Oh well, and on food. Because food makes everything better.
Mrs Finn (after reading the whole book, I don't think she'd mind me calling her Cecily) is the most heart warming person and a true inspiration. What makes her even more lovable is the fact that she was indeed a real person.
Really pleasant read.
