I don't like to be negative in reviews but I'd say this book was mediocre at best. There were some beautiful descriptions of food which definitely made my mouth water but overall there wasn't that much going on. The plot was loosely interesting but I felt that Kate was just a bit moany and mopey for my liking. The ending, in terms of Mrs Finn, was predictable but I had hoped it might move me. Disappointingly, although Mrs Finn was probably the most interesting character, I just felt that I didn't make any real attachment to her and so really just skimmed past when she died. I wouldn't recommend this book because I honestly felt it was a bit of a waste of my time reading it. I only kept going through stubbornness and a vague hope that things might pick up!
