I really enjoyed this book, I thought to start with that it would be a typical romance book, a relationship that isn’t working, meeting someone else etc. However, this book was a pleasant surprise. Kate has not been getting on very well with Nick, he panics when they agree to move in together. Kate isn’t happy in her job and ends up taking early retirement. She starts volunteering in a care home, where she meets Cecily, a particularly cantankerous old lady who Kate befriends. I found myself wanting to keep reading and I didn’t want to put down the book, I wanted to know more about Cecily’s life as she tells Kate her life story. I would recommend this book to fans of romance books, especially Jenny Colgan and Carole Matthews.
