39 year old Kate Parker is planning to move in with her 42 year old out of work, computer game playing boyfriend Nick after their French holiday. While on holiday Nick decides that he isn't sure he is ready for Kate to move in just yet. Back home Kate moves back in with her mother and also begins to Volunteer at the Lauderdale House for Exceptional Ladies. She begins to visit 97 year old resident Cecily Finn, a no nonsense, sharp tongued Lady. After awhile they discover a love of good food and cookery. Cecily gives a Kate a cookery book with chapter of recipes for all situations in life. Kate and Cecily become good friends who both need each other in their lives. Kate also discovers what a full and exciting life Cecily has lead.
I wasn't sure about this book at first as I couldn't understand how Kate had ended up with the man child that was Nick and wanted to shake her. As the story continued I loved how Kate developed with the help of Cecily and also her friends. This was a funny, heart warming book and one I would recommend to my female friends.
