There are so many nice things to say about this book. The illustrations in particular are beautiful and atmospheric, a gorgeous example of what children's picture books should be like. The message is clear and strong; it's ok to not be perfect. It's right to celebrate what you can do and who you are without expecting to be good at everything. In a world where, sadly, children's mental health issues are on the rise, we need books like this more than ever. Go and get it for your children, you won't regret it!

The only criticism I have, to give my objective opinion, is that the metre of this book feels ever so slightly off at times. The rhyme is good and I didn't notice it until I was reading it aloud to my daughter and found myself stumbling over certain sentences, not something that happens to me often as an infant school teacher! It's not a big issue and only affects certain parts of the story, but definitely noticeable.

Don't let that stop you reading it though, it is a beautiful and moving book!
