I've always enjoyed Karl Newson's work and this is no exception.
The illustrations are colourful and full of joy. We follow a child, who seems to lead a charmed life with an assortment of wild animals. We've got Polar Bears, Gorillas, Giraffes, Parrots, Penguins and many more - so a lovely way for young children to spot their favourites!
Along with the different animals we also have all their various habitats pictured.
The word count is low, so perfect for much younger children, but the message is important and conveyed very well. It's all about trying and accepting that you will sometimes fail. About all of your experiences creating memories. About the joys of friendship.
The style is gentle and kind - it is a rhyming book but there were times when the rhymes weren't obvious as it doesn't necessarily "scan" in a sing-song, rhyming kind of way.
