Charming and practical
This is the first of Karl Newson’s book that I have read. It is a book on helping children to try and try again in doing things in life, knowing it is ok to not know the answer, it is ok to ask questions, it is ok to fail today and try again tomorrow or another time. These are important life skills and we need to build them from young. A bonus is that the illustrations by Clara Anganuzzi are so beautiful, it is soft in feeling, which exudes a sense of calm and mystery not of hard pushy feeling, which I’m sure helped in portraying the theme of this book. One of the illustrations is of a bird’s eye view and does made me feel that the world IS at my feet. As my preschooler is now developing a lot of personality and complex emotions which sometimes as an adult we still find difficulty in managing it ourselves, I’m glad to have come upon this book, we can explore these concepts together.
