The artistry in this book was excellent, really cute pictures which were instantly recognisable as the animals they should be. As far as the actual story went though, it was a nice idea - try everything once, it doesn't matter if you fail - but seemed a bit too preachy - I think the morals would go completely over the heads of young children and pre-schoolers. When I was a kid, books didn't have to have a message (or if there was one, it was quite well buried), but these days it just seems like kids have to be educated or preached at all the time. Especially if this book was aimed at pre-schoolers, it did ram the message home a bit too much, but I'm sure young children would like the illustrations. Having said that, it was a good book with a nice message - I'm definitely not the target audience but it was quite sweet overall. The idea would be perhaps better suited to children changing from primary to secondary school.
