I read this book to my two daughters who are aged 7 and 3. They both loved the illustrations and some of their favourite animals featured in the book as well. The message in the story is that’s it’s ok to try new things and they not work out, not everything goes to plan and there isn’t always a reason. It’s ok to not know, I believe this is an important thing to teach young children, trying and failing are all part of life and it’s how we learn. My youngest was more interested in the illustrations, being just 3 years old the message in the story went over her head a little. My 7 year old however was interested in the meaning and we have had a few conversations about how it applies to her life, especially how you can’t always win and that’s ok which she struggles with. I personally found the book a pleasure to read and would recommended it to those with young children as they can appreciate it for different reasons as they grow.
