Initially on first reading I thought what a delightful easy read this was for any young child.
On second reading it definitely made me realise that this was certainly more than a story book.
In fact there is little story line to this book, more short statements with some absolutely beautiful illustrations that would help a child interact with an adult in opening up if necessary.
I will give you just on ‘for instance’ ..
‘Just remember you can’t always win’.
How simple a statement but how great a subject matter. The adult or child can immediately use the safety of this book … the word mindfulness spring to mind.. for I think this is what this book is. A first book to help little ones feel safe to express concerns or feelings and feel safe knowing that it is a normal thing to do. From what looked like a really simple story book I think this is quite outstanding. Would recommend!
