"The World's First Roller Coaster and other Amazing Inventions" by Mike Barfield is a children's book which is both educational and fun.

The comic-strip style will definitely appeal to children and adults alike. There are eight chapters, each covering a host of different inventions, from roller coasters (obviously!) to drones and bubble wrap. In addition, each chapter tells us about a not-so-famous inventor which I found very interesting and informative, and each chapter has a different theme, such as "House and Home" and "Food and Drink."

There is lots of interesting information to be learned from this book, and it is very easy to dip in and out of. Franziska Hollbacher has done a brilliant job with the illustrations: each page is packed full of amusing and colourful comic-strip drawings.

My grandson really enjoys his other book by this author (A Day in the Life of a Poo, a Gnu and You," and I am sure he will get as much enjoyment from this lovely book too.
