This is exactly the kind of book I would have loved as a child - full of interesting facts and figures that you can bring up at the dinner table and wow the family with! Kids are like sponges and will absorb this book in no time, bringing out facts years later that they will be surprised they remember! The cartoons and pictures are perfect, there's humour and cute characters in it and the font is child-friendly and easily readable. It's nicely split into chapters and can be read from cover to cover or just picked up and flicked through. There's a nice mix of history, culture and facts, and I liked the features on specific inventors. It's obviously a modern book, and there's a lot of references to helping the environment, and 'you can do anything you want' specifically aimed at minorities, but it didn't detract from the facts. The only thing I would question is the fact about 100 billion instant noodle pots being eaten every day - with 8 billion people on the planet, that's 12 each every day...! Apart from that, a fabulous book!
