The worlds first rollercoaster and other amazing inventions is itself... amazing! I love the writing, the illustrations (most things have a face) and the layout of the book. The laughing children on the front cover give a good indication of what the book will be like. Sure enough the first page is a funny 'warning'!
With some inventive chapter names like 'high and mighty' and 'wear and tear' sometimes you just don't know what you are going to learn about next. This book is hugely fun and it's fact packed, for example the double page topic of rollercoasters contains eleven interesting facts and the topic of skyscrapers contains nineteen.
There are some fart and poo jokes but only a few. There are lots of inspirational stories on inventors lives, how they invented what they did etc. Within the pages you will find eco, black and girl empowering messages.
A fav of mine was 'oddest buildings in the world'.
