I really enjoyed this book.
There are 8 sections dealing with interesting facts about the history and usage of each subject. The writing is fun - short, modern and witty - accompanied by lovely cartoon illustrations which is great for both adults and children alike.
The subjects are all likely to be of interest to young students - technology, sport, food, toilets! Lots of reminders about environmental issues also. As a huge advocate for female rights and recognition I was pleased to see lots of inventions by female scientists included with reminders about how much more difficult it was for them to market their ideas in times gone by.
I read it in one sitting, as I’m sure most readers do. You just can’t help keep turning the pages to see what interesting new facts lie overleaf which is what reinforced what a great book this is.
I will be passing it onto my nephew next
