Not the sort of book that you or a child would be able to sit down and just read and enjoy. This is definitely book akin to a younger version of the Guinness Book of World Records, or Ripley's 'Believe it or Not!'.

The various chapters of amazing inventions cover a wide array of topics and historical eras, and sticks mostly to the most fascinating aspects of History that children would most certainly be more interested in. (Including a brilliantly set out section on the history of video games which I found informative and interesting too!)

And quite frankly, the book is just beautiful as well. Every single page is stunningly colourful and bright, caricatures of the real people involved decorating each page.

The lay out of the text is separated into small text boxes and paragraphs that make micro learning nice and easy, and encourages an easy read and learning.
