I liked the blurb and cover of this book and think it probably makes for an interesting read. I was optimistic that it would be my kind of book, as a fan of historical fiction. That said the initial pages did not draw me in. I wanted the first descriptions of the blitz to help me understand what it was like to be there. Whilst the author took efforts to describe the situation I did not felt like I was drawn into the action. It felt somewhat flat to me.
I think this book has a lot of potential, its a niche bit of history in that it covers the impact of the war on a small area over 4 days and I would be intrigued to learn me, but the prose so far did not provide the emotive draw I was hoping for.
