The blurb gave quite a lot away but I was delighted that the first chapters were much more elliptical for introducing us gradually to the characters. This is Belfast during their Blitz in 1941 , something of which I am ashamed to say I knew nothing at all. Obviously I was aware that Belfast did suffer: particularly due to the importance of its shipyards. but this is a story but I will be delighted to follow on further. I enjoyed the writing which was much less full of cliches than such stories usually are. Wonderful to find an introduction that intrigues so much. Really want to find out what happens to the two sisters, as well as their family.
