Historical fiction isn't my genre, I don't think I've ever read from it actually. I'd be up for trying it though.
The front cover tells you what you're in store for, and suits the story.
I like that it mentions a secret relationship with someone of the same gender, which was obviously forbidden back then. It's something that would actually make historical fiction appealing to pick up, for me.
