The story begins in the third person - we are not quite sure who the observer is - but the focus is Emma at the be beginning of the story. It makes for an unnerving start, as observations of Emma are made, yet we do not get to fully understand the inner feelings of our main character. Did not sit well with me, so I could not proceed.
