I started reading this book with open minded after growing up isn’t he 70’s and the war torn Belfast and the images on tv reminded me of the way I was seeing this awful country torn apart by religion. A different era and was pleasantly surprised at the depth and the human way this story was portrayed. Involving sisters and the fight they all have at this time. It reminded me of the fact even when there’s a war on real ice still prevails. The ordinary and less ordinary tests of each woman showed up through this book and I was amazed at the strength and ferocious way these woman dealt with their lives during this time. A good read and very well written nit a book I would of picked up and was so glad I was taken out of my comfort zone to read this. I loved the honesty and the intensity and the way the story was real and became alive to the reader. You start to ask yourself what you would of done in these circumstances.
