I was looking forward to reading this book as I like books set during the war with it being an period that I have not experienced, but I have really struggled to relate to the sisters or to concentrate and get into the story. I found the chapters mixed up and struggled to connect whom each chapter was based on and I don’t like to give up but at the moment if I can’t connect I am feeling that I have to stop, but I hate having to write a review detailing this.
I loved the cover and the blurb but felt that the story was not what I thought it was going to be and even after reading 80 pages still cannot recall what has happened and whom is the sisters. The story did not give me a feeling of life during the war it felt that it was more about the characters lives and not how the war impacted them and their families. I will look to read another book written by this author
