This novel sets out the scene perfectly by introducing the characters we are to follow, it begins with Emma and her struggles between family and her constant desire to help the war effort and a strong connection she has with Sylvia.
Her sister Audrey is the complete opposite and more concerned with looks and her growing romance with Richard when she has to make a life changing decision.
There is also young Betty who has a narrow escape from the bombs and terror throughout London.
I really enjoyed reading about the 3 characters and starting to see their own stories and where they might go. The historical elements is something that is always an interest to me which I find you can easily get lost in and this book is no different.
I would definitely looking at buying this book as the characters are interesting and there is much room for growth.
