This book's blurb piqued my interest, so I was eager to dive in, and it did not disappoint. This was a very emotional story, and it was fascinating to read about the many individuals' emotions. I had a hard time imagining what they were going through.

This book's writing style appealed to me, and the third-person narrative was a nice fit for me. We got to read an unbiased storey that wasn't influenced by the feelings of the narrator. I appreciated learning about each character and their life, as well as how they developed as persons throughout our brief time with them. It took some time for me to adjust to the lack of speech marks, but once I did, the writing flowed easily. I found the book to be pretty simple to follow.

I thought the cover was wonderful for the book and that it really suited the contents. Despite the book's sorrow and ruin, I found the finale to be fairly hopeful for the family.
