Interesting story and style
I did enjoy reading this book. I thought it was really well written and engaging. It was a good length too - it did not go on for too long and kept me interested throughout.
I liked how it was linked to a period in history and how it focused on Belfast rather than London during the blitz.
I liked the characters in the story and how the plot focused on the two sisters. I did feel like there was growth, especially in Audrey’s story. I enjoyed how the characters grew within the novel as their lives changed through the war. It also seemed to be a coming of age novel, where the characters grew up over the course of the book.
I did find it a little bit difficult to understand the speech within the novel because there are no speech marks. I think it would be helpful to separate speech and thoughts if I am honest.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story and I would read other books by the author!
