Was really looking forward to reading this book, but I am slightly disappointed in it, the story centres around Audrey and Emma two sister caught up the raids for Belfast in the Second World War . Audrey is courting Richard a doctor but is she truly in love with him? They get engaged but does she go through with it?? Emma the younger of the sisters is torn within herself as she falls in love with her supervisor Sylvia (it’s a frowned upon thing in them days) until one night in the middle of a blitz Sylvia goes rushing out and is caught up in a bomb blast, but we don’t ever find out if she was or wasn’t hit!! Paul the younger brother of the sisters is quite funny to read about especially his very first kiss when he is evacuated to live with his aunt and uncle, there is also this little bit about Maisie and how she gets separated from her family after been in the shelter and little Betty there housemaid, a good story overall but too many side bits left unsaid
