Had high hopes of this one as I really enjoy wartime novels but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
At times it seemed rather directionless and the flitting back and forth between characters and situations is always something I struggle with and may also be the same for other readers.
I didn't exactly bond with any of the characters either and at times though wartime and it was a horrendous time I didn't like the animal cruelty scenes.
The sisters Emma and Audrey I found a little cold and emotionless overall.
Also I found scenes and situations hinted at within the story but not followed through with.
I also keep wondering what happened to the character Sylvia as with public records at the time being chaotic no one could be totally sure of anything so as a reader I just felt very dissatisfied.
