The book is about The First World War also known as World War One. I always like world war one novels; they are always fascinating. The novel is set exactly in April of 1941 when Belfast had escaped the war.
I don't want to give too much away so I will give as little detail as possible as I want you to experience it for yourself. The book is about two sisters called Emma and Audrey. One of them is engaged and the other one is secretly in a relationship with another woman. They are experiencing the four-day-long Belfast blitz and they are extremely scared for their lives. Their emotions are a big reason for why I carried on reading the book as it added so much more to the story than I thought.
