Set in a small almost idyllic village on the edge of Birmingham, Bilal and his family live and feel at home here.

When his mother dies, her last wish is for a mosque in the village.

So, Bilal approaches his neighbours as he wants to build a mosque. Suddenly, he is treated differently and some outright hostility, he’s now made to feel an outsider and he begins to question his life and faith. All he wanted was to belong and not feel an outsider. He thought Babbels end would be that place.

Beautifully written and such a thoughtful, sensitive and empathetic look into prejudice and wanting to belong. Very timely in this miserable time of Brexit and viruses

A moving and thought provoking read.
