I am a great fan of books set in a typical English village, the ones that I have enjoyed include Miss Read (Dora Saint), Miss Marple (Agatha Christie) and Agatha Raisin (M. C. Beaton).
This one falls into this category.

When I first saw it I just couldn't make up my mind ...did I or didn't I want to read it ?...after all there is a mosque in the middle of this picture of an English village .

Anyway I have read it and thoroughly enjoyed it..its an excellent read.
The only criticism was the fact that I couldn't understand the other language, it would have been nice if the author had put all the interpretations in, not just a few...but to my delight there was a translation of page 439.

Also in the acknowledgements was another surprise...the school that was mentioned I pass everytime I walk to the shops and the village mentioned is just down the road.

Thank you Ayisha for putting that in...I can now picture you going into the school to chat to its headmaster and sitting in on the village parish council meeting...Dorset is such a beautiful place to visit and live.
