I was delighted to win a copy of this book. I’ve previously read and enjoyed one other book by Ayisha Malik so looked forward to another. This book had me hooked from the beginning, right up my street with the description of village life and some of the characters who live within it. There were many interesting threads which cross crossed throughout the novel. Some of the main characters were a little generic but overall the story came together nicely. It was quite a fitting book to read with all that is going on in the UK at the minute. It really made me think about how and why people react as they do, and also about how my community might react in a similar situations. There are a lot of emotions in this book across a spectrum. I don’t think this will be the best book published this year but it is definitely worth a read and I really look forward to future books by Ayisha!
