I really loved this book. It is really well written in that it is very readable, full of ironic comedy and really gets you thinking about a range of issues. The story is told from a number of different characters perspectives which really gives depth to the story. The main theme is the idea of building a mosque in a small English village, the book explores how a Muslim family who had previously been accepted in the village are treated once they stop trying so hard to fit in. It was really interesting to see how different characters reacted and justified their actions. As well as the main theme there were plenty of sub plots including an unlikely friendship, blended families, relationships with mothers, guilt. The ending was really lovely, maybe a bit too idealistic but overall a good, satisfying read.
