When Bilals mother tells him to build a mosque in his village on her death bed, a series of events is set in motion which both divides and brings together a village.
This is a gently moving book, but with some powerful messages about tolerance and friendship in the eye of adversity.
The main characters are all well presented and developed, and although I didn't find all of them likeable, I could understand where each was coming from. The insight into Muslim way of life was also interesting to a non- Muslim reader.
As well as the main plotline, there were also a number of other subplots which added to the overall story and made for some interesting diversions.
It all moved at a steady pace, and it was easy to read.
A lovely book, and one I would recommended happily.
