It has taken a long time for me to review this as after reading the first time there were parts I was unsure of and felt I would like to read again before saying anything about it and I think I made the right decision as did understand more the second Tim around. Bilal’s mother Sakeena had a dying wish that he should build a mosque in the sleepy village of Babbet’s End.
He and his wife Mariam had settled well into the community and had made many friends but when the mosque was proposed he came up against a wall of unpleasantness. His friends turned against him for it and when some relatives came from Birmingham the villagers said they were being invaded.
The local vicar tried to help, even by suggesting using an unused church for it,you can imagine how that went down.
This book really shows how people’s views can change because of preconceptions and not wanting to change or see both sides of something.
I would recommend reading it and if at first you don’t get or understand it then read it again as it is worth it
