The first 100 pages or so of The Green and Pleasant land laid the foundations for an interesting and vibrant story. This multilayered and well crafted story did seem dry in places, but perseverance paid off and by the end i felt entwined into the fabric of Babbels end. Not my typical type of book, but a pleasant read nonetheless.

I loved how Khala weaved herself into the lives of many members of the Babbels End community, uniting people from all walks of life. Despite not speaking English (although trying to learn), she had such a bright spark of humanity within herself that she naturally drew people to her side.

Although this seems like a serious subject I loved the humour in this book and found myself chuckling along at many points throughout the story. Thanks Readers First for this copy, i'm very pleased I picked it up!
