I thoroughly enjoyed this book which looks at the concept of acceptance and 'other' within a small village community.

Upon her deathbed, Bilal's mum requests he builds a mosque in the small village in which he lives. For some time following the request he does nothing but it eats away at him until he decides to go ahead and try to build the mosque.

He had been an integral part of the village for a number of years and the story demonstrates how quickly this can change if you 'rock the boat'.

The characters are all well-developed and likeable and you find yourself genuinely caring about them. However, they are all complex - as humans are - and this book really is about relationships and their volatility.

I thoroughly recommend this book.
