A well-written story that deals with a number of issues, and handles them well. The issues include neighbourliness, tolerance, and the NIMBY brigade. Although the main issue in the story centres around building a mosque in a small English village, this is not just a religious book - there is so much more to it. The mosque becomes a side issue as the story develops and the characters take over. Many of the arguments and situations that the characters find themselves in are relatable in today's society. Tensions and emotions run high throughout the book and, although you may not agree with decisions made, on the whole you can empathise and understand what drives people do act how they do. The characters are well written and the plot is character driven which enables it to move at a steady pace. All-in-all, a good read. Recommended
