Teenage Zara lives in a typical Desi family, which is comforting but also hectic. The story unfolds smoothly and rapidly, as she lives closely with Adnan, and they are definitely NOT dating or in love...or are they? The threads of the story are more tangled than a length of rope. Family tensions, daily dramas, including the modern ones of the school environment where real, imagined or just plain stupid actions are recorded and on social media instantly, feature throughout the book. It is complicated and fun, and enjoyable. The front cover shows Zara and Adnan holding hands at a dance, with other teenagers watching carefully to see what they are doing, and all of them have the big earphones on - great cover!
