A fun romance starring Zara, a massive fan of romance films. Name a romantic trope and she could give you several examples. So it should come as no surprise that she's persuaded into a fake relationship by her best friend Adnan, who is trying to conceal his love for Cami.
It jogs along at a decent pace and is very readable but I'm not really sure I bought into the storyline in it's entirety. I'm still a bit baffled about why they had to manufacture a fake relationship when a decent bit of secrecy would have done the trick.
However, suspend your belief and I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride. The characters are pretty likeable and I appreciated the mix of styles - with text speak, discord chats etc forming a good chunk of the narrative. This made it feel much more authentic.
I liked the insight into Zara and Adnan's Desi families and the way the author concluded that love is important in all it's forms - whether it's for your friends, family or love interest.
