Thank you Readers First and Hot Key Books for giving me a copy of This is How You Fall in Love by Anika Hussain in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

This is a totally fun, contemporary, YA romance that totally ticks the boxes. Zara is romcom obsessed and has been best friends with Adnan forever, and that’s always been great, despite pressure from family and friends for them to take the next step, until…Adnan meets Cami, whose over protective father means they can’t date, unless Zara will help them out!

Next thing you know Zara and Adnan are living the fake dating trope, and everyone but Cami is over the moon for them. Of course nothing ever runs to plan, and there are definitely a few hiccups along the way!

This is a totally fun story, complete with reflection of group chats, Discord, texts and a whole raft of Pokémon! Plus, it steps away to put Desi representation front and centre, which is a definite plus for representation in romance stories.

It was fun to see this whole comedy of errors play out, especially as I recognised and know the geography, and have a trusted source, who definitely agrees about Swindon and Ice Blasts!

If you’re looking for a fun romance that definitely doesn’t take itself too seriously, delivers a fun escape from the real world and has some great friendships and more, you can do far worse than pick up a copy of This is How You Fall in Love!
