This was a nice easy read based on a complicated love story. Zara has been friends with Adnan since they were children as their parents are close friends. When Adnan meets a girl at school Cami, who needs to keep their relationship a secret as her father would not approve, Zara agrees to pretend that they are a couple to enable Adnan and Cami to meet up. Both sets of parents are delighted when they think that Adnan and Zara are a couple and plan a party. All of their friends are delighted as they always thought that Adnan and Zara should always be together.
Unfortunately during this fake relationship, things don’t quite go to plan. Zara meets Yayha whom she starts to have feelings for. Adnan and Cami nearly give the game away at a silent disco and then Zara discovers that Yahya is not all that she thought he was.
The book follows the breakdown of friendships, the complications of love, the importance of family and recognising what is important - learning who you are and accepting it.
