This is a tale of finding out where you come from. Who were your grandparents, your great-grandparents and who were their great-grandparents. Louisa knows nothing, well almost nothing, about her family and when her daughter is born an old soul and refusing to sleep the village doctor says it is because she has no roots. It is now Louisa's task to find those roots.

A pleasant enough tale and competently written but I am not really feeling invested in the characters after the first couple of chapters. Seems like a good pick up and put down book because it entertains you without asking from any investment whatsoever from the reader. Makes it the perfect bedtime reading really but I do prefer a little more form my reading.
