From the cover and blurb I was not expecting to enjoy this in the slightest; the wishy-washy illustration led me to believe this would a saccharine and sentimental opening. The prose, however, is beautiful; it weaves a mystical tone with some charmingly human moments, and the effect is captivating. Just obscure enough to be mysterious and intriguing, just clear enough to avoid being obtuse.
