Right from the start this book reeled me in and captured my attention with it's sense of character and setting. Each of the first three chapters was well written, engaging and gave quite a sense of what each of the three lead characters will be like already. All three appeared to have different struggles and mysteries within their lives - particularly Martha (I need to know what happened there, already the desire to find out is eating away at me). I've got to say that I also already immensely feel for poor Edie; that family screamed toxic. Surely it's a sign of a talented writing when a single chapter left me wanting to dive in and defend one of it's characters.

Another feature that I particularly liked was the inclusion of the Whatsapp group chat. It immediately painted a sense of gossip and gave an idea of the kind of community that you're entering with this read. I love books that include different forms of communication within their pages.
